Common questions

What happens if the internet goes off while I am billing?

Nothing stops. The bill is saved on your phone and uploaded automatically when the signal comes back — you do not have to do anything. Today shows how many changes are waiting, and you can tap “Send now” to push them yourself. Your item list, recent bills and udhaar balances are all kept on the phone too, so you can keep selling with no bars at all.

Why is the app asking me to recount stock?

Because a sale you made offline took an item below zero. The app never refuses a sale that already happened — the customer has left with the goods — so it sets the count to zero and asks you to count what is actually on the shelf. Open Today → “Recount now”, count the few items it lists, and the numbers are right again.

How do I put GST on my bills?

Enter your GSTIN in Settings → Shop. Once it is saved, a “GST bill” switch appears on the payment sheet, and you turn it on for the bills that need it. Set your usual rate under “Default GST %”, and give any item its own rate from its price screen. GST is off until you do this — casual billing is the normal way the app works.

Is the GST added on top of my price?

No. It is taken out of the price you already charge. If you sell something at ₹100 at 5%, the customer still pays ₹100 and the bill shows ₹4.76 of GST inside it. Indian shop prices are MRP-inclusive, so adding tax on top would quietly overcharge every customer.

How do I give a discount?

On the payment sheet, tap “Give a discount”. Type either a rupee amount or a percentage — use the ₹/% switch beside the box. The bill records the rupee amount that comes out of it. Anyone who can bill may give a discount; it never changes the shelf price.

How do I send the bill to the customer?

After a sale — or from any bill in Bills — you get five buttons: View, Send, Save, PDF and Print. Send opens WhatsApp, SMS and everything else on your phone with the bill as a message. PDF makes a proper printable bill you can send the same way. Print opens your phone’s print screen if you have a printer set up.

My shop address is not on the bill. How do I add it?

Settings → Shop. The shop name, street/area and landmark print at the top of every bill, and “Shop phone” prints below them so a customer can call you about a purchase. Add your GSTIN there too if you bill with GST.

How do I see which staff member made a bill?

Open the bill from Bills — “Sold by” names the member who rang it up, and it prints on the receipt too. Today also splits the day’s total by member when more than one person billed. Give each member a PIN in Shop → Staff, and they tap “Switch user” at the counter so their bills are recorded under their own name.

What can my staff see?

Only the bills they made themselves. Staff never see the day’s total, margins, or the udhaar ledger, and they cannot change shelf prices unless you grant them “Allow price edits” in Shop → Staff. They can still give a discount on a sale in front of them — that is bargaining, not a price change.

How does the udhaar ledger work?

Pick “Udhaar” as the payment mode and enter the customer name or number — the sale is added to their balance, and you see what they already owe before you agree to it. When they pay, open Udhaar, find them, and record a payment. The balance is worked out from the entries, so nothing is ever overwritten.

Can I take my data out of the app?

Yes, any time, free. Shop → My records → “Download my records” gives you your bills, your udhaar book and your stock list. Each one opens the share sheet with the data as text, so you can send it to yourself on WhatsApp or email and open it in a spreadsheet. There is no limit and it will never become a paid feature.

Does the app take my UPI payments?

No — the money goes straight from your customer to you. If you add your UPI ID in Settings (easiest: scan your own printed QR sticker), the app draws your QR on the sale screen with the amount already filled in. We never see, hold or confirm the payment. “Money received” is just you noting that you saw it arrive.

Can I use the app in my own language?

Yes. Settings → Language lists every language we support or plan to support. Languages marked “beta” are complete but have not yet been checked by a native speaker — if you spot a wrong word, tell us and we will fix it.

How do I delete my account?

Settings → Account → “Delete my account”. Your name and number are removed straight away. Your shop’s bills and udhaar records stay, because a udhaar entry is a record of what a customer owes you — download your records first if you want a copy.

If something breaks

What to do, in order

Most of this you can do without us, which is the point — the counter does not stop because our evening did.

  1. Check whether it is just the network

A grey line under the status bar with a count means bills are saved and waiting, not lost. Keep billing. It sends itself when there is signal, and you can push it by hand from the same line if you would rather not wait.

  2. If the count looks wrong, recount

A flagged item means the app noticed a disagreement rather than picking a side. Open the prompt, count what is physically on the shelf, and enter that — the shelf wins, always. The sale that caused it stays exactly as it was.

  3. Take an export before you do anything drastic

CSV of bills, stock and the khata, free, from Settings. Two minutes, and it means the worst case is inconvenience rather than loss. Worth doing occasionally anyway.

  4. Then message a person

No ticket number, no bot, no queue. Tell us the shop name and what you were doing when it happened. We can see whether your shop is syncing — and we cannot see your khata, your customers or your takings, so say what you need us to know.
