Terms of use
The agreement between you and us. Written to be readable rather than lawyerly — but it is the agreement.

The short version
Karobari is a tool for running your shop: billing, stock and the udhaar ledger. Your records belong to you and you can export them at any time, free. We do not take a cut of your sales, we never handle your money, and we do not give tax advice. Use it honestly and it is yours to use.
Your account
- Your mobile number is your identity. Keep it and the one-time codes sent to it to yourself — anyone with both can sign in as you.
- You must be 18 or older and be running, or working in, a real business.
- A shop has one or more owners and any number of staff. Staff see only the bills they created; totals, margins and the udhaar ledger are the owner's. If you add someone as staff, you are responsible for what they do on your shop's account.
- If you share a counter device, the PIN switch records who rang up each sale. Do not share a PIN — the record is only as honest as the PINs are.
Your records are yours
Bills, stock, batches and udhaar entries you enter are your business records. We store them to run the service for you. We do not sell them, do not use them to advertise to you or anyone else, and do not share them with any other shop.
You can download all of it — bills, bill lines, the udhaar book and the stock list — from Shop → My records → Download my records, in a format any spreadsheet opens. That is free, has no limit, and will not become a paid feature. If you ever want to leave, your data should not be the reason you can't.
What the app does not do
- It does not take your payments
- If you set your UPI ID, the app draws your own payment QR on the receipt with the amount filled in. That money goes directly from your customer to your bank — it never passes through us, and we cannot see, confirm, hold or refund it. "Money received" on a bill is you telling the app you saw it arrive. Nothing verifies it, and nothing in the app depends on it being true.
- It does not give tax advice
- GST is off by default and switches on only when you enter your own GSTIN. The tax figure on a bill is arithmetic on the rates you set. The "My records" screen shows what you have recorded against the registration thresholds and nothing more. We do not calculate your liability, do not file returns, and are not your accountant. Check anything that matters with a CA.
- It does not lend, or score you for a loan
- The udhaar ledger is your own record of what customers owe you. It is not a credit product and we do not use it to assess, rank or sell anyone's creditworthiness. Your udhaar book is never shown to anyone but you.
Accuracy, and who is responsible for it
You enter the prices, quantities, rates and customer details; the app records them. If a figure on a bill is wrong, the entry was wrong — so check a bill before you hand it over. The app shows you the bill before you complete the sale for exactly this reason.
The app is offline-first on purpose: a sale made with no signal is saved on the phone and uploaded later, and it is never rejected after the fact. If your phone counted stock differently while offline, the app tells you and asks you to recount. That prompt is not an error — it is the app declining to quietly overwrite what you actually have on the shelf.
What you must not do
- List goods you are not permitted to sell, or use the app to record trade that is illegal where you are.
- Impersonate another shop, or list a shop at an address that is not yours.
- Attempt to reach another shop's records, probe the API for other people's data, or work around the owner/staff permissions.
- Automate abusive volumes of requests, or resell access to the service.
If we believe one of these is happening, we may suspend a shop's public listing while we look into it, with the reason recorded. Billing, stock, udhaar and offline sync keep working during a suspension. This app is your cash register, and taking a shop's till away over a moderation call is not something we are willing to do. Serious or repeated abuse can end in account closure.
Availability
We aim to keep the service running but do not promise uninterrupted availability. The app is built so that most of it — billing, the item list, recent bills, udhaar balances — keeps working on your phone when the network or our servers do not. Sales made during an outage upload when the connection returns.
We may change or remove features. If a change would lose data you have entered, we will tell you before it happens.
Ending it
You can delete your account from Settings → Account at any time. Your name and number are removed immediately. Your shop's bills and udhaar records stay, because a udhaar entry is a record of what someone else owes and Indian bookkeeping rules require sales records to be retained — the full explanation is on Account deletion. Export your records before you delete, if you want a copy.
Liability
The service is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost profits, lost sales, or business losses arising from using or being unable to use the app. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
This does not reduce our obligations under the Privacy policy, which is part of these terms.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms materially, the version number above changes and the app asks you to agree again the next time you sign in. We do not treat continued use as agreement to a document you were never shown.
Governing law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of India have jurisdiction over any dispute.
