Billing App for Cosmetics ShopA cosmetics counter, and the dates nobody looks at

पीस, मिलीलीटर, ग्राम — और उस शेल्फ़ की तारीख़ें जो धीरे-धीरे बिकती है।

Pieces, millilitres and grams — and expiry on a shelf that moves slowly enough to go bad.

AT THE COUNTER

A face cream that has been on the shelf since last Diwali

5:30 pm

It is not spoiled and it is not fresh, and the difference is a date on the tube that neither of you is going to read at the counter. The app holds that date against the batch, so the question is answerable before the sale rather than after the complaint.

A cosmetics shop opens on **this month's sales**. The buying here is occasional rather than daily — a customer comes in when something runs out, and that is a monthly rhythm rather than a morning one.

SAME APP, YOUR SHOP

Three things that are different here

Personalisation in this product is defaults, a bounded set of tools, and vocabulary — never a separate app per trade. What follows is the whole of what changes.

Millilitres and grams sit above packs

Hair oil, serum, perfume and lotion are volumes; henna, powder and sindoor are weights; the rest are objects. The unit list is piece, millilitre, gram, pack, in that order, because that is the order the shelf actually breaks down into.

Expiry is on for this trade

Most retail does not get batch dates. This does, alongside a kirana and a chemist, because the stock turns slowly enough that something on the third shelf is genuinely older than you think it is.

MRP is the price, and you can still discount

Nearly everything here is printed with a price the customer can read, so the item carries its MRP and the bargaining happens as a discount on the sale in front of you — recorded on the bill, not as a change to the shelf price.

WHAT ARRIVES SET UP

What a cosmetics gets on the first screen

Not a demo. This is the actual configuration the app applies when you pick Cosmetics at sign-up — the same data the app itself reads.

The units, in this order

  • Piece
  • Ml
  • G
  • Pack

The first one is the default, because it is what this trade sells most of. Every quantity in the app carries its unit — there is no bare number anywhere.

The tools this turns on

  • Stock, in units
  • Batch and expiry dates

And nothing else. A trade is only offered at sign-up once every tool it needs has actually shipped — 59 of 172 trades pass that test today.

The items it starts you with

Tap to add, then set your own price. They are a guess at your shelf and you will correct some of them — that is expected, and it is why they live on the server rather than inside an app release.

Twelve of 30. The rest of the pack is in the app — this table is here so you can check the list is really your shelf, and a dozen rows settles that faster than 30 does.

Low-stock warnings start at 5, which is a starting point for this trade rather than a rule. Change it per item.

Where expiry tracking is taken further

Try it on your counter

Free, on Google Play, and set up by you in the time it takes to put ten items in — the ones you sell most. The rest of the shelf goes in as it sells.
