What usually brings someone to this page
You are not usually looking to replace the books. You are looking for the thing that happens at the counter twelve hours a day — a bill, a shelf that comes down, a name in the udhaar book — without walking to a computer, and without the counter being the reason somebody has to learn accounting software.
For context rather than as a claim about any particular build: desktop accounting software — a full double-entry books package, of the kind a shop typically keeps for the accountant rather than for the counter. Everything below this line is about Karobari.
Three things, all of them checkable today
Nothing here is a plan or a next release. Each one is behaviour you can put a phone in aeroplane mode and confirm within a minute of installing.
The counter is a phone, and that is the whole design
Karobari runs on the smartphone or tablet already at your counter, with a web till on your computer for desk work. Nothing about billing requires a dedicated computer terminal or accounting machine to be switched on.
Somebody who is not you can bill on it by this afternoon
Each person gets their own PIN and bills under their own name, and every bill records who made it. What they never see: the day's total, your margins, the udhaar khata, or anybody else's bills. Changing a shelf price is a separate permission you grant — though anyone can still give a discount on a sale in front of them, because that is bargaining, not a price change.
The record is not rewritten to look tidy
A bill is corrected by a further entry rather than by an edit, an item you stop stocking is archived rather than deleted, and a two-year-old bill still adds up because nothing behind it moved. That is the one habit this shares with a proper set of books, and it is the one worth sharing.
Your shelf does not get typed in again
Export your stock or item master to CSV and bring it in from Stock → bring in a list — 2,000 rows, loose column matching, create-only. The reverse direction is the one that matters more here: Karobari exports bills, khata and stock as spreadsheets, free and unlimited, which is the file your accountant actually wants at the end of a quarter. It is a file, not a posting into anybody's ledger, and we do not claim the other end will read it cleanly.
The same screen takes text you paste rather than a file — a supplier's WhatsApp message, or a list an assistant handed back — and strips the sentence above it and the sign-off below it before reading. Nobody has to produce a clean file to get started.
Why there is no comparison table on it
A matrix with somebody else's name down one column is a set of claims about a product we do not build and cannot track, and it ages into a lie the first time they ship. So this site does not keep one. Tally is named here because it is the word you searched for, and for no other reason — every statement above is about Karobari, including the long one about what it will not do for you.
If you want the underlying argument without a brand attached to it, the four scenario pages are the honest version: one evening in a shop, answered for this app, for the paper book, and for the category most likely to be the alternative.
